The Peters Cartridge Company was founded in 1887 in Kings Mill, Ohio by Gershom Moore Peters. A manufacturer of gunpowder (black powder) and ammunition, the company forged a solid reputation for innovative, high performance rifle, pistol, & revolver and shotgun cartridges. Remington Arms purchased the Peters Cartridge Company in 1934 and became known as Remington-Peters for a time. In fact, many Remington shell heads are stamped with R-P to this day. In 1960, Remington introduced the first shotshells with plastic hulls. Remington hulls were the infamous ‘Remington Green’ color while Peters hulls were the distinctive ‘Peters Blue’.
